Global AI Stock Sell-Off Triggers Sharp Decline Across Asian Markets
Concerns over expensive artificial intelligence investments and potential regulatory restrictions have triggered a major sell-off in global technology stocks, pushing Asian markets sharply lower.

Global financial markets witnessed significant volatility on November 6 following a sharp decline in technology stocks on Wall Street. Investor concerns surrounding the rising cost of artificial intelligence infrastructure, high company valuations and possible regulatory restrictions contributed to the sell-off.
The Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.5% on Thursday, while the S&P 500 declined 4.4%, marking its steepest daily fall since April 2025. The downturn also affected Asian markets, with Japan's Nikkei falling 6.1% and South Korea's KOSPI declining 6.3%.
Major technology companies, including Nvidia and AMD, experienced substantial losses. Nvidia shares dropped 9.3%, while AMD declined 17.3%.
The market reaction highlights growing investor concerns about whether massive investments in AI infrastructure and data centres will generate sufficient returns. Higher borrowing costs and uncertainty surrounding future technology regulations are adding further pressure.
The development could influence global technology investment, semiconductor demand and international financial markets.
