India has taken another step towards strengthening its domestic artificial intelligence ecosystem with the introduction of three indigenous foundation models under the IndiaAI Mission. The models include EKA-1 developed by Soket and Dhīr 2B and Dhīr 5B developed by ZenteiQ. The initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to support Indian AI innovation and reduce dependence on foreign technology infrastructure. Indigenous AI models can create opportunities for developers, businesses, researchers and startups to build applications suited to India's requirements. The development also highlights the importance of local technological capabilities in areas such as language processing, digital services and enterprise automation.
